Term 3 finished with a fantastic Billy Cart race near the Scout Hall. A well planned and organised activity by the Scouts themselves.  As we close this Term and look forward to another, I want everyone to think about the following phrase...

"Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure...
than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much,
because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat."

Theodore Roosevelt

Quick update for Scouts that are doing exams and having trouble studying.  This website is EXCELLENT!

6th June 2011

Term 2 has begun and so far the Scouts have been bowling, learned some fire safety skills and updated their first aid skills. Still to come this term is indoor rockclimbing and an outdoor survival skills night.  I'm very proud of the Scouts this term, in particular the Patrol Leaders who have stepped up and taken charge of the Troop, well done!

Just a reminder to parents that the A4 health from is due back with updated details and fees are due too.

14th Feb 2011

Some Scouts come to me and say that they can't go on a camp because they can't afford it.  I can very much relate to this!  Money doesn't grow on trees and these days we are all working hard to make ends meet, some more than others.  So how can a Scout learn a valuable life lesson from this situation?  Many of you are too young to have a job but some of you might be able to do a paper round for example.  I know I did when I was 14 and it gave me some much needed funds as my parents were not that well off.

"So what can I do?" you ask; you could become involved in fund raising. As a Scout you can do lots of things and our Scout Restaurant is just one fund raising idea that your Patrol Leaders have come up with for this year.

If you have some great fund raising ideas then speak to your Patrol Leader, then we can all enjoy the Scout Camping experience without having to re-mortgage our scooter or bicycle!

4th Feb 2011

20th September

Well, another Term comes to a close. We are now starting into finer weather with Spring well under way and school holidays looming.  Hopefully some Atwell Scouts will make it to the Royal Show and help out at the Scouts WA stand.

Hope to see you all next Term at Joeys, Cubs, Scouts and Venturers!

18th August

Nighthawk was a success on the weekend. A BIG thank you to the parents that took over three hours out of their weekend to drive Scouts and Venturers to the event in Beverly.  Thank you to the Venturers that helped out by being part of the Security team, a very important role that they performed very well.

And last but not least, a big congratulations to the Scouts who did an admirable job of navigating their way around the course! Well done!

26th June

Monday night (28th June), Scouts are indoor rock climbing.  Make sure you bring your forms and money.

6th June

To all Scouts in the Scout Troop, please make sure your A2 Permission forms are in ASAP to Doc.  Without them you won't be able to participate in the Atwell Wide Game.

25th April

The ANZAC Day ceremony with Kwinanna Scout Group was a fantastic event this weekend.  Thank you and well done to those who participated in the Night Vigil, Dawn Service, Gun Barrel Breakfast, Parade and Wreath Laying.

They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old. Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, we will remember them. Lest We Forget.

18th April

Rope Bridge at Pets in the Park event.  Fantastic day, we were lucky with the weather. I really enjoyed myself and it was great to see the Scouts out in force working to get the bridge up and down again.  Thanks to everyone, parents too, who helped out today.
